HEBREWS, CHAPTER 1

I

1 Chriſt in theſe laſt times comming to vs from the Father, 4 is preferred aboue the Angels, both in Perſon and Office.


Heb 1:1 GOd who at ſundry times, and in diuers manners, ſpake in time paſt vnto the Fathers by the Prophets,

Heb 1:2 Hath in theſe laſt dayes ſpoken vnto vs by his Sonne, whom he hath appointed heire of all things, by whom alſo he made the worlds,

Heb 1:3 Who being the brightneſſe of his glory, and the expreſſe image of his perſon, and vpholding all things by the word of his power, when hee had by himſelfe purged our ſinnes, ſate down on the right hand of the Maieſtie on high,

Heb 1:4 Being made ſo much better then the Angels, as hee hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent Name then they.

Heb 1:5 For vnto which of the Angels ſaid he at any time, Thou art my ſonne, this day haue I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he ſhall be to me a Sonne.

Heb 1:6 And againe, when he bringeth in the firſt begotten into the world, hee ſaith, And let all the Angels of God worſhip him.

Heb 1:7 And of the Angels he ſaith: Who maketh his Angels ſpirits, and his miniſters a flame of fire.

Heb 1:8 But vnto the Sonne, he ſaith, Thy throne, O God, is for euer and euer: a ſcepter of righteouſneſſe is the ſcepter of thy kingdome.

Heb 1:9 Thou haſt loued righteouſneſſe, and hated iniquitie, therefore God, euen thy God hath anointed thee with the oyle of gladneſſe aboue thy fellowes.

Heb 1:10 And, thou Lord in the beginning haſt layed the foundation of the earth: and the heauens are the works of thine hands.

Heb 1:11 They ſhall periſh, but thou remaineſt: and they all ſhal waxe old as doth a garment.

Heb 1:12 And as a veſture ſhalt thou fold them vp, and they ſhall be changed, but thou art the ſame, and thy yeeres ſhall not faile?

Heb 1:13 But to which of the Angels ſaid hee at any time, Sit on my right hand, vntill I make thine enemies thy footſtoole?

Heb 1:14 Are they not all miniſtring ſpirits, ſent foorth to miniſter for them, who ſhall be heires of ſaluation?

1 Wee ought to bee obedient to Chriſt Ieſus, 5 and that becauſe he vouchſafed to take our nature vpon him, 14 as it was neceſſarie.


Heb 2:1 THerefore we ought to giue the more earneſt heede to the things which we haue heard, leſt at any time we ſhould let them ſlip.

Heb 2:2 For if the word ſpoken by Angels was ſtedfaſt, and euery tranſgreſſion and diſobedience receiued a iuſt recompenſe of reward:

Heb 2:3 How ſhall we eſcape, if we neglect ſo great ſaluation, which at the firſt began to be ſpoken by the Lord, and was confirmed vnto vs by them that heard him,

Heb 2:4 God alſo bearing them witneſſe, both with ſignes & wonders, and with diuers miracles, and gifts of the holy Ghoſt, according to his owne will?

Heb 2:5 For vnto the Angels hath he not put in ſubiection the world to come, whereof we ſpeake.

Heb 2:6 But one in a certaine place teſtified, ſaying: What is man, that thou art mindfull of him: or the Sonne of man that thou viſiteſt him?

Heb 2:7 Thou madeſt him a little lower then the Angels, thou crownedſt him with glory and honor, and didſt ſet him ouer the workes of thy hands.

Heb 2:8 Thou haſt put all things in ſubiection vnder his feete. For in that he put all in ſubiection vnder him, hee left nothing that is not put vnder him. But now wee ſee not yet all things put vnder him.

Heb 2:9 But wee ſee Ieſus, who was made a little lower then the Angels, for the ſuffering of death, crowned with glory and honour, that hee by the grace of God ſhould taſte death for euery man.

Heb 2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many ſonnes vnto glory, to make the Captaine of their ſaluation perfect through ſufferings.

Heb 2:11 For both hee that ſanctifieth, and they who are ſanctified, are all of one: for which cauſe he is not aſhamed to cal them brethren,

Heb 2:12 Saying, I will declare thy Name vnto my brethren, in the midſt of the Church will I ſing praiſe vnto thee.

Heb 2:13 And againe, I will put my truſt in him: and againe, Behold, I, and the children which God hath giuen me.

Heb 2:14 Foraſmuch then as the children are partakers of fleſh and blood, he alſo himſelfe likewiſe took part of the ſame, that through death hee might deſtroy him that had the power of death, that is, the deuill:

Heb 2:15 And deliuer them, who through feare of death were all their life time ſubiect to bondage.

Heb 2:16 For verely he tooke not on him the nature of Angels: but he tooke on him the ſeed of Abraham.

Heb 2:17 Wherfore in all things it behooued him to bee made like vnto his brethren, that he might be a mercifull and faithfull high Prieſt, in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the ſinnes of the people.

Heb 2:18 For in that he himſelfe hath ſuffered, being tempted, he is able to ſuccour them that are tempted.

1 Chriſt is more worthy then Moſes, 7 therefore if we beleeue not in him, we ſhalbe more worthy puniſhmët then hard hearted Iſrael. 


Heb 3:1 WHerfore holy brethrë, partakers of the heauenly calling, conſider the Apoſtle and high Prieſt of our profeſſion Chriſt Ieſus,

Heb 3:2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as alſo Moſes was faithfull in all his houſe.

Heb 3:3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory then Moſes, in as much as he who hath builded the houſe, hath more honour then the houſe.

Heb 3:4 For euery houſe is builded by ſome man, but hee that built all things is God.

Heb 3:5 And Moſes verely was faithfull in all his houſe as a ſeruant, for a teſtimonie of thoſe things which were to be ſpoken after.

Heb 3:6 But Chriſt as a Sonne ouer his owne houſe, whoſe houſe are wee, if we hold faſt the confidence, and the reioycing of the hope firme vnto the end.

Heb 3:7 Wherfore as the holy Ghoſt ſaith, To day if ye will heare his voyce,

Heb 3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the prouocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderneſſe:

Heb 3:9 When your fathers tempted me, prooued me, and ſaw my works fourty yeeres.

Heb 3:10 Wherefore I was grieued with that generation, and ſayd, They doe alway erre in their hearts, and they haue not knowen my wayes.

Heb 3:11 So I ſware in my wrath: they ſhall not enter into my reſt.

Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, leſt there be in any of you an euill heart of vnbeleefe, in departing from the liuing God.

Heb 3:13 But exhort one another dayly, while it is called To day, leaſt any of you be hardned through the deceitfulneſſe of ſinne.

Heb 3:14 For wee are made partakers of Chriſt, if we hold the beginning of our confidence ſtedfaſt vnto the end.

Heb 3:15 Whileſt it is ſayd, To day if yee will heare his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the prouocation.

Heb 3:16 For ſome when they had heard, did prouoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moſes.

Heb 3:17 But with whom was he grieued fourty yeeres? was it not with them that had ſinned, whoſe carcaſes fell in the wilderneſſe?

Heb 3:18 And to whom ſware he that they ſhould not enter into his reſt, but to them that beleeued not?

Heb 3:19 So we ſee that they could not enter in, becauſe of vnbeleefe.

IV

1 The reſt of Chriſtians is attained by faith. 12 The power of Gods word. 14 by our High Prieſt Ieſus the ſonne of God, ſubiect to infirmities, but not ſinne, 16 wee muſt and may go boldly to the throne of grace.


Heb 4:1 Let vs therefore feare, leſt a promiſe being left vs, of entring into his reſt, any of you ſhould ſeeme to come ſhort of it.

Heb 4:2 For vnto vs was the Goſpel preached, as well as vnto thë: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Heb 4:3 For we which haue beleeued do enter into reſt, as hee ſaid, As I haue ſworne in my wrath, if they ſhall enter into my reſt, although the works were finiſhed from the foundation of the world.

Heb 4:4 For he ſpake in a certaine place of the ſeuenth day on this wiſe: And God did reſt the ſeuenth day from all his works.

Heb 4:5 And in this place againe: If they ſhall enter into my reſt.

Heb 4:6 Seeing therfore it remaineth that ſome muſt enter therein, and they to whom it was firſt preached, entred not in becauſe of vnbeleefe:

Heb 4:7 Againe, hee limiteth a certaine day, ſaying in Dauid, To day, after ſo long a time; as it is ſaide, To day if ye will heare his voyce, harden not your hearts.

Heb 4:8 For if Ieſus had giuen them reſt, then would he not afterward haue ſpoken of another day.

Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a reſt to the people of God.

Heb 4:10 For he that is entred into his reſt, hee alſo hath ceaſed from his owne works, as God did from his.

Heb 4:11 Let vs labour therefore to enter into that reſt, leſt any man fall after the ſame example of vnbeleefe.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quicke and powerfull, and ſharper then any two edged ſword, pearcing euen to the diuiding aſunder of ſoule and ſpirit, and of the ioynts and marrowe, and is a diſcerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Heb 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifeſt in his ſight: but all things are naked, and opened vnto the eyes of him with whome wee haue to doe.

Heb 4:14 Seeing then that wee haue a great high Prieſt, that is paſſed into the heauens, Ieſus the Sonne of God, let vs hold faſt our profeſſion.

Heb 4:15 For wee haue not an high Prieſt which cannot bee touched with the feeling of our infirmities: but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without ſinne.

Heb 4:16 Let vs therefore come boldly vnto the throne of grace, that wee may obtaine mercy, and finde grace to helpe in time of need.

V

1 The authoritie and honour of our Sauiours Prieſthood. 11 Negligence in the knowledge thereof is reprooued.


Heb 5:1 For euery high Prieſt taken from among men, is ordeined for men in things pertaining to God, that hee may offer both giftes & ſacrifices for ſins.

Heb 5:2 Who can haue compaſſion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way, for that he himſelfe alſo is compaſſed with infirmitie.

Heb 5:3 And by reaſon heereof hee ought as for the people, ſo alſo for himſelfe, to offer for ſinnes.

Heb 5:4 And no man taketh this honour vnto himſelfe, but hee that is called of God, as was Aaron.

Heb 5:5 So alſo, Chriſt glorified not himſelfe, to bee made an High Prieſt: but hee that ſaide vnto him, Thou art my Sonne, to day haue I begotten thee.

Heb 5:6 As he ſaith alſo in another place, Thou art a Prieſt for euer after the order of Melchiſedec.

Heb 5:7 Who in the dayes of his fleſh, when hee had offered vp prayers and ſupplications, with ſtrong crying and teares, vnto him that was able to ſaue him from death, and was heard, in that he feared.

Heb 5:8 Though hee were a Sonne, yet learned hee obedience, by the things which he ſuffered:

Heb 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the authour of eternall ſaluation vnto all them that obey him,

Heb 5:10 Called of God an high Prieſt after the order of Melchiſedec:

Heb 5:11 Of whom we haue many things to ſay, and hard to be vttered, ſeeing ye are dull of hearing.

Heb 5:12 For when for the time yee ought to bee teachers, yee haue neede that one teach you againe which be the firſt principles of the Oracles of God, and are become ſuch as haue need of milke, and not of ſtrong meat.

Heb 5:13 For euery one that vſeth milke, is vnſkilful in the word of righteouſnes: for he is a babe.

Heb 5:14 But ſtrong meate belongeth to them that are of full age, euen thoſe who by reaſon of vſe haue their ſenſes exerciſed to diſcerne both good and euil.

VI

1 Hee exhorteth not to fall backe from the faith, 11 But to bee ſtedfaſt, 12 diligent, and patient to waite vpon God, 13 becauſe God is moſt ſure in his promiſe.


Heb 6:1 THerefore leauing the principles of the doctrine of Chriſt, let vs goe on vnto perfection, not laying againe the foundation of repentance from dead workes, and of faith towards God,

Heb 6:2 Of the doctrine of Baptiſmes, and of laying on of hands, and of reſurrection of the dead, and of eternall iudgement.

Heb 6:3 And this will we doe, if God permit.

Heb 6:4 For it is impoſſible for thoſe who were once inlightned, and haue taſted of the heauenly gift, and were made partakers of the holy Ghoſt,

Heb 6:5 And haue taſted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come;

Heb 6:6 If they ſhall fall away, to renue them againe vnto repentance: ſeeing they crucifie to themſelues the Sonne of God afreſh, and put him to an open ſhame.

Heb 6:7 For the earth which drinketh in the raine that commeth oft vpon it, and bringeth forth herbes meet for them by whome it is dreſſed, receiueth bleſſing from God.

Heb 6:8 But that which beareth thornes and briers, is reiected, and is nigh vnto curſing, whoſe end is to be burned.

Heb 6:9 But beloued, wee are perſwaded better things of you, and things that accompany ſaluation, though we thus ſpeake.

Heb 6:10 For God is not vnrighteous, to forget your worke and labour of loue, which yee haue ſhewed toward his Name, in that yee haue miniſtred to the Saints, and doe miniſter.

Heb 6:11 And wee deſire, that euery one of you doe ſhewe the ſame diligence, to the full aſſurance of hope vnto the ende:

Heb 6:12 That yee be not ſlothfull, but followers of them, who through faith and patience inherite the promiſes.

Heb 6:13 For when God made promiſe to Abraham, becauſe hee could ſweare by no greater, he ſware by himſelfe,

Heb 6:14 Saying, Surely, bleſſing I will bleſſe thee, and multiplying I wil multiply thee.

Heb 6:15 And ſo after he had patiently indured, he obtained the promiſe.

Heb 6:16 For men verily ſweare by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all ſtrife.

Heb 6:17 Wherein God willing more abundantly to ſhewe vnto the heyres of promiſe the immutabilitie of his counſell, confirmed it by an oath:

Heb 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impoſſible for God to lye, wee might haue a ſtrong conſolation, who haue fled for refuge to lay hold vpon the hope ſet before vs.

Heb 6:19 Which hope we haue as an anker of the ſoule both ſure and ſtedfaſt, and which entreth into that within the vaile,

Heb 6:20 Whither the forerunner is for vs entrrd; euen Ieſus, made an high Prieſt for euer after the order of Melchiſedec.

1 Chriſt Ieſus is a Prieſt after the order of Melchiſedec, 11 And ſo, farre more excellent then the Prieſts of Aarons order.


Heb 7:1 FOR this Melchiſedec king of Salem, Prieſt of the moſt high God, who met Abraham returning from the ſlaughter of the Kings, and bleſſed him:

Heb 7:2 To whom alſo Abraham gaue a tenth part of all: firſt being by interpretation king of righteouſneſſe, and after that alſo king of Salem, which is, king of peace.

Heb 7:3 Without father, without mother, without deſcent, hauing neither beginning of dayes nor end of life: but made like vnto the Sonne of God, abideth a Prieſt continually.

Heb 7:4 Now conſider how great this man was, vnto whō euen the patriarch Abraham gaue the tenth of the ſpoiles.

Heb 7:5 And verily they that are of the ſonnes of Leui, who receiue the office of the Prieſthood, haue a commandement to take Tithes of the people according to the Law, that is of their brethren, though they come out of the loines of Abraham:

Heb 7:6 But he whoſe deſcent is not counted from them, receiued tithes of Abraham, and bleſſed him that had the promiſes.

Heb 7:7 And without all contradiction, the leſſe is bleſſed of the better.

Heb 7:8 And here men that die receiue tithes: but there hee receiueth them, of whom it is witneſſed that he liueth.

Heb 7:9 And as I may ſo ſay, Leui alſo who receiueth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

Heb 7:10 For hee was yet in the loynes of his Father when Melchiſedec met him.

Heb 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Leuiticall Prieſthood (for vnder it the people receiued the Law) what further neede was there, that another Prieſt ſhould riſe after the order of Melchiſedec, and not bee called after the order of Aaron?

Heb 7:12 For the Prieſthood being chaunged, there is made of neceſſitie a change alſo of the Law.

Heb 7:13 For hee of whom theſe things are ſpoken, pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gaue attendance at the Altar.

Heb 7:14 For it is euident that our Lorde ſprang out of Iuda, of which tribe Moſes ſpake nothing cōcerning Prieſthood.

Heb 7:15 And it is yet farre more euident: for that after the ſimilitude of Melchiſedec there ariſeth another Prieſt,

Heb 7:16 Who is made not after the Law of a carnall commandement, but after the power of an endles life.

Heb 7:17 For hee teſtifieth; Thou art a Prieſt for euer, after the order of Melchiſedec.

Heb 7:18 For there is verily a diſanulling of the commandement going before, for the weakeneſſe and vnprofitableneſſe thereof.

Heb 7:19 For the Law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did: by the which wee draw nigh vnto God.

Heb 7:20 And in as much as not without an othe he was made Prieſt,

Heb 7:21 (For thoſe Prieſts were made without an oath: but this with an oath, by him that ſaid vnto him, The Lord ſware and wil not repent, thou art a Prieſt for euer after the order of Melchiſedec)

Heb 7:22 By ſo much was Ieſus made a ſuertie of a better Teſtament.

Heb 7:23 And they truely were many Prieſts, becauſe they were not ſuffered to continue by reaſon of death.

Heb 7:24 But this man becauſe hee continueth euer, hath an vnchangeable Prieſthood.

Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able alſo to ſaue them to the vttermoſt, that come vnto God by him, ſeeing hee euer liueth to make interceſſion for them.

Heb 7:26 For ſuch an high Prieſt became vs, who is holy, harmeleſſe, vndefiled, ſeparate from ſinners, and made higher then the heauens.

Heb 7:27 Who needeth not daily, as thoſe high Prieſts, to offer vp ſacrifice, firſt for his owne ſins and then for the peoples: for this he did once, when he offered vp himſelfe.

Heb 7:28 For the Law maketh men high Prieſts which haue infirmitie, but the word of the othe which was ſince the Law, maketh the Sonne, who is conſecrated for euermore.

1 By the eternall Prieſthood of Chriſt, the Leuiticall Prieſthood of Aaron is aboliſhed. 7 And the temporall Couenant with the Fathers, by the eternal Couenant of the Goſpel.


Heb 8:1 Now of the things which we haue ſpoken, this is the ſumme: wee haue ſuch an high Prieſt, who is ſet on the right hand of the throne of the Maieſtie in the heauens:

Heb 8:2 A miniſter of the Sanctuary, and of the true Tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.

Heb 8:3 For euery high Prieſt is ordeined to offer gifts and ſacrifices: wherefore it is of neceſſitie that this man haue ſomewhat alſo to offer.

Heb 8:4 For if he were on earth, he ſhould not bee a Prieſt, ſeeing that there are Prieſts that offer gifts according to the Law:

Heb 8:5 Who ſerue vnto the example and ſhadow of heauenly things, as Moſes was admoniſhed of God when he was about to make the Tabernacle. For ſee (ſaith he) that thou make all things according to the paterne ſhewed to thee in the mount.

Heb 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent miniſterie, by how much alſo he is the Mediatour of a better Couenant, which was eſtabliſhed vpon better promiſes.

Heb 8:7 For if that firſt Couenant had bene faultles, then ſhould no place haue bene ſought for the ſecond.

Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, hee ſaith, Behold, the dayes come (ſaith the Lord) when I will make a new couenant with the houſe of Iſrael, and the houſe of Iudah.

Heb 8:9 Not according to the Couenant that I made with their fathers, in the day when I tooke them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, becauſe they continued not in my Couenant, and I regarded them not, ſaith the Lord.

Heb 8:10 For this is the Couenant that I will make with the houſe of Iſrael after thoſe dayes, ſaith the Lord: I wil put my Lawes into their minde, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they ſhalbe to me a people.

Heb 8:11 And they ſhall not teach euery man his neighbour, and euery man his brother, ſaying, Know the Lord: For all ſhall know me, from the leaſt to the greateſt.

Heb 8:12 For I will be mercifull to their vnrighteouſnes, and their ſins & their iniquities will I remember no more.

Heb 8:13 In that he ſaith, A new Couenant, he hath made the firſt olde. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old, is readie to vaniſh away.

1 The deſcription of the rites and bloody ſacrifices of the Law, 11 farre inferiour to the dignitie and perfection of the blood and ſacrifice of Chriſt.


Heb 9:1 THen verily the firſt Couenant had alſo ordinances of diuine Seruice, and a worldly Sanctuary.

Heb 9:2 For there was a Tabernacle made, the firſt, wherein was the Candleſticke, and the Table, and the Shewbread, which is called the Sanctuarie.

Heb 9:3 And after the ſecond vaile, the Tabernacle which is called the Holieſt of all:

Heb 9:4 Which had the golden Cenſor, and the Arke of the Couenant ouerlayed round about with gold, wherein was the Golden pot that had Manna, and Aarons rod that budded, and the Tables of the Couenant.

Heb 9:5 And ouer it the Cherubims of glory ſhadowing the Mercyſeat; of which we cannot now ſpeake particularly.

Heb 9:6 Now when theſe things were thus ordained, the Prieſtes went alwayes into the firſt Tabernacle, accompliſhing the ſeruice of God.

Heb 9:7 But into the ſecond went the high Prieſt alone once euery yeere, not without blood, which he offered for himſelfe, and for the errors of the people.

Heb 9:8 The holy Ghoſt this ſignifying, that the way into the Holieſt of all, was not yet made manifeſt, while as the firſt Tabernacle was yet ſtanding:

Heb 9:9 Which was a figure for the time then preſent, in which were offred both gifts and ſacrifices, that could not make him that did the ſeruice perfect, as pertayning to the conſcience,

Heb 9:10 Which ſtood onely in meates and drinkes, and diuers waſhings, and carnall ordinances impoſed on them vntill the time of reformation.

Heb 9:11 But Chriſt being come an high Prieſt of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect Tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to ſay, not of this building:

Heb 9:12 Neither by the blood of Goats and Calues: but by his owne blood hee entred in once into the Holy place, hauing obtained eternall redemption for vs.

Heb 9:13 For if the blood of Bulls, and of goats, and the aſhes of an heifer ſprinkling the vncleane, ſanctifieth to the purifying of the fleſh:

Heb 9:14 How much more ſhall the blood of Chriſt, who through the eternal Spirit, offered himſelfe without ſpot to God, purge your conſcience from dead workes, to ſerue the liuing God?

Heb 9:15 And for this cauſe hee is the Mediatour of the New Teſtament, that by meanes of death, for the redemption of the tranſgreſſions that were vnder the firſt Teſtament, they which are called, might receiue the promiſe of eternall inheritance.

Heb 9:16 For where a Teſtament is, there muſt alſo of neceſſitie bee the death of the Teſtatour.

Heb 9:17 For a Teſtament is of force after men are dead: otherwiſe it is of no ſtrength at all whileſt the Teſtatour liueth.

Heb 9:18 Whereupon, neither the firſt Teſtament was dedicated without blood.

Heb 9:19 For when Moſes had ſpoken euery precept to all the people according to the Law, he tooke the blood of Calues and of Goates, with water and ſcarlet wooll, and hyſope, and ſprinckled both the booke and all the people,

Heb 9:20 Saying, This is the blood of the Teſtament which God hath enioyned vnto you.

Heb 9:21 Moreouer, hee ſprinkled with blood both the Tabernacle, and all the veſſels of the Miniſtery.

Heb 9:22 And almoſt all things are by the Law purged with blood: and without ſhedding of blood is no remiſſion.

Heb 9:23 It was therefore neceſſary that the patterns of things in the heauens ſhould bee purified with theſe, but the heauenly things themſelues with better ſacrifices then theſe.

Heb 9:24 For Chriſt is not entred into the Holy places made with handes, which are the figures of the true, but into heauen it ſelfe, now to appeare in the preſence of God for vs.

Heb 9:25 Nor yet that he ſhould offer himſelfe often, as the high Prieſt entreth into the Holy place, euery yeere with blood of others:

Heb 9:26 For then muſt hee often haue ſuffered ſince the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world, hath he appeared to put away ſinne by the ſacrifice of himſelfe.

Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed vnto men once to die, but after this the Iudgement:

Heb 9:28 So Chriſt was once offered to beare the ſinnes of many, & vnto them that looke for him ſhall hee appeare the ſecond time without ſinne, vnto ſaluation.

Heb 10:1 FOr the Law hauing a ſhadow of good things to come, and not the very Image of the things, can neuer with thoſe ſacrifices which they offered yeere by yeere continually, make the commers thereunto perfect:

Heb 10:2 For then would they not haue ceaſed to be offered, becauſe that the worſhippers once purged, ſhould haue had no more conſcience of ſinnes?

Heb 10:3 But in thoſe ſacrifices there is a remembrance againe made of ſinnes euery yeere.

Heb 10:4 For it is not poſſible that the blood of Bulles and of Goats, ſhould take away ſinnes.

Heb 10:5 Wherefore when hee commeth into the world, he ſaith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldeſt not, but a body haſt thou prepared mee:

Heb 10:6 In burnt offerings, and ſacrifices for ſinne thou haſt had no pleaſure:

Heb 10:7 Then ſaid I, Loe, I come. (In the volume of the booke it is written of me) to doe thy will, O God.

Heb 10:8 Aboue when hee ſaid, Sacrifice, and offering, and burnt offerings, and offering for ſinne thou wouldeſt not, neither hadſt pleaſure therein, which are offered by the Law:

Heb 10:9 Then ſaid he, Loe, I come to doe thy will (O God:) He taketh away the firſt, that he may eſtabliſh the ſecond.

Heb 10:10 By the which will wee are ſanctified, through the offering of the body of Ieſus Chriſt once for all.

Heb 10:11 And euery Prieſt ſtandeth dayly miniſtring and offering oftentimes the ſame ſacrifices which can neuer take away ſinnes.

Heb 10:12 But this man after he had offered one ſacrifice for ſinnes for euer, ſate downe on the right hand of God,

Heb 10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footſtoole.

Heb 10:14 For by one offering hee hath perfected for euer them that are ſanctified.

Heb 10:15 Whereof the holy Ghoſt alſo is a witneſſe to vs: for after that he had ſaid before,

Heb 10:16 This is the Couenant that I wil make with them after thoſe dayes, ſaith the Lord: I will put my Lawes into their hearts, and in their mindes will I write them:

Heb 10:17 And their ſinnes and iniquities will I remember no more.

Heb 10:18 Now, where remiſſion of theſe is, there is no more offering for ſinne.

Heb 10:19 Hauing therefore, brethren, boldneſſe to enter into the Holieſt by the blood of Ieſus,

Heb 10:20 By a new and liuing way which hee hath conſecrated for vs, through the vaile, that is to ſay, His fleſh:

Heb 10:21 And hauing an high Prieſt ouer the houſe of God:

Heb 10:22 Let vs drawe neere with a true heart in full aſſurance of faith, hauing our hearts ſprinkled from an euill conſcience, and our bodies waſhed with pure water.

Heb 10:23 Let vs hold faſt the profeſſion of our faith without wauering (for he is faithfull that promiſed)

Heb 10:24 And let vs conſider one another to prouoke vnto loue, and to good workes:

Heb 10:25 Not forſaking the aſſembling of our ſelues together, as the manner of ſome is: but exhorting one another, and ſo much the more, as ye ſee the day approching.

Heb 10:26 For if we ſinne wilfully after that we haue receiued the knowledge of the trueth, there remaineth no more ſacrifice for ſinnes,

Heb 10:27 But a certaine fearefull looking for of iudgement, and fiery indignation, which ſhall deuoure the aduerſaries.

Heb 10:28 Hee that deſpiſed Moſes Lawe, died without mercy, vnder two or three witneſſes.

Heb 10:29 Of how much ſorer puniſhment ſuppoſe ye, ſhall hee be thought worthy, who hath troden vnder foote ye Sonne of God, and hath counted the blood of the couenant wherwith he was ſanctified, an vnholy thing, and hath done deſpite vnto the ſpirit of grace?

Heb 10:30 For we know him that hath ſaid, Uengeance belongeth vnto me, I wil recompence, ſaith the Lord: and again, The Lord ſhall iudge his people.

Heb 10:31 It is a fearefull thing to fall into the hands of the liuing God.

Heb 10:32 But call to remembrance the former dayes, in which after yee were illuminated, ye indured a great fight of afflictions:

Heb 10:33 Partly whileſt ye were made a gazing ſtocke both by reproches & afflictions, and partly whileſt ye became companions of them that were ſo vſed.

Heb 10:34 For yee had compaſſion of me in my bonds, and tooke ioyfully the ſpoyling of your goods, knowing in your ſelues that yee haue in heauen a better and an induring ſubſtance.

Heb 10:35 Caſt not away therfore your confidence which hath great recompenſe of reward.

Heb 10:36 For ye haue need of patience, that ſhall after ye haue done the will of God ye might receiue the promiſe.

Heb 10:37 For yet a litle while, and he that ſhall come will come, and will not tary.

Heb 10:38 Now the iuſt ſhall liue by faith: but if any man drawe backe, my ſoule ſhall haue no pleaſure in him.

Heb 11:1 NOw faith is the ſubſtance of things hoped for, the euidence of things not ſeen.

Heb 11:2 For by it the Elders obtained a good report.

Heb 11:3 Through faith we vnderſtand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, ſo that things which are ſeene were not made of things which doe appeare.

Heb 11:4 By faith Abel offered vnto God a more excellent ſacrifice then Kain, by which he obtained witnes that he was righteous, God teſtifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead, yet ſpeaketh.

Heb 11:5 By faith Enoch was tranſlated, that he ſhould not ſee death, and was not found, becauſe God had tranſlated him: For before his tranſlation he had this teſtimonie, that he pleaſed God.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impoſſible to pleaſe him: for hee that commeth to God, muſt beleeue that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently ſeeke him.

Heb 11:7 By faith Noah being warned of God of things not ſeene as yet, moued with feare, prepared an Arke to the ſauing of his houſe, by the which he condemned the world, and became heire of the righteouſneſſe which is by faith.

Heb 11:8 By faith Abraham when he was called to goe out into a place which hee ſhould after receiue for an inheritance, obeyed, and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

Heb 11:9 By faith hee ſoiourned in the land of promiſe, as in a ſtrange countrey, dwelling in tabernacles with Iſaac and Iacob, the heires with him of the ſame promiſe.

Heb 11:10 For hee looked for a citie which hath foundations, whoſe builder and maker is God.

Heb 11:11 Through faith alſo Sara her ſelfe receiued ſtrength to conceiue ſeede, and was deliuered of a child when ſhe was paſt age, becauſe ſhe iudged him faithful who had promiſed.

Heb 11:12 Therfore ſprang there euen of one, and him as good as dead, ſo many as the ſtarres of the ſkie in multitude, and as the ſand which is by the ſea ſhore innumerable.

Heb 11:13 Theſe all died in faith, not hauing receiued the promiſes, but hauing ſeene them a farre off, and were perſwaded of them, and embraced them, and confeſſed that they were ſtrangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Heb 11:14 For they that ſay ſuch things, declare plainly that they ſeeke a countrey.

Heb 11:15 And truly if they had been mindfull of that countrey, from whence they came out, they might haue had opportunitie to haue returned:

Heb 11:16 But now they deſire a better countrey, that is, an heauenly: wherefore God is not aſhamed to bee called their God: for he hath prepared for thë a city.

Heb 11:18 Of whom it was ſaid, That, in Iſaac ſhall thy ſeed be called:

Heb 11:19 Accounting that God was able to raiſe him vp, euen from the dead: from whence alſo he receiued him in a figure.

Heb 11:20 By faith Iſaac bleſſed Iacob and Eſau concerning things to come.

Heb 11:21 By faith Iacob when hee was a dying, bleſſed both the ſonnes of Ioſeph, and worſhipped leaning vpon the top of his ſtaffe.

Heb 11:22 By faith, Ioſeph when hee died, made mention of the departing of the children of Iſrael: and gaue commandement concerning his bones.

Heb 11:23 By faith; Moſes when hee was borne was hid three moneths of his parents, becauſe they ſaw he was a proper childe, and they not afraid of the Kings commandement.

Heb 11:24 By faith Moſes when hee was come to yeeres, refuſed to bee called the ſonne of Pharaohs daughter,

Heb 11:25 Chuſing rather to ſuffer affliction with the people of God, then to enioy the pleaſures of ſinne for a ſeaſon:

Heb 11:33 Who through faith ſubdued kingdomes, wrought righteouſneſſe, obteined promiſes, ſtopped the mouthes of Lions,

Heb 11:34 Quenched the violence of fire, eſcaped the edge of the ſword, out of weakeneſſe were made ſtrong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

Heb 11:35 Women receiued their dead raiſed to life againe: and others were tortured, not accepting deliuerance, that they might obtaine a better reſurrection.

Heb 11:36 And others had triall of cruell mockings and ſcourgings, yea moreouer, of bonds and impriſonment.

Heb 11:37 They were ſtoned, they were ſawen aſunder, were tempted, were ſlaine with the ſword: they wandered about in ſheepſkinnes, and goat ſkins, being deſtitute, afflicted, tormented.

Heb 11:38 Of whome the world was not worthy: they wandered in deſerts, and in mountains, and in dennes and caues of the earth.

Heb 11:39 And theſe all hauing obtained a good report through faith, receiued not the promiſe:

Heb 12:1 WHerefore, ſeeing wee alſo are compaſſed about with ſo great a cloude of witneſſes, let vs lay aſide euery weight, & the ſinne which doth ſo eaſily beſet vs, and let vs runne with patience vnto the race that is ſet before vs,

Heb 12:2 Looking vnto Ieſus the Authour and finiſher of our faith, who for the ioy that was ſet before him, endured the croſſe, deſpiſing the ſhame, and is ſet down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Heb 12:3 For conſider him that indured ſuch contradiction of ſinners againſt himſelfe, leſt ye be wearied and faint in your mindes.

Heb 12:4 Yee haue not yet reſiſted vnto blood, ſtriuing againſt ſinne.

Heb 12:5 And ye haue forgotten the exhortation which ſpeaketh vnto you as vnto children, My ſonne, deſpiſe not thou the chaſtening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him.

Heb 12:6 For whome the Lord loueth hee chaſteneth, and ſcourgeth euery ſonne whom he receiueth.

Heb 12:7 If yee endure chaſtening, God dealeth with you as with ſonnes: for what ſonne is he whom the father chaſteneth not?

Heb 12:8 But if ye be without chaſtiſement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye baſtards, and not ſonnes.

Heb 12:9 Furthermore, wee haue had fathers of our fleſh, which corrected vs, and we gaue them reuerence: ſhall we not much rather bee in ſubiection vnto the Father of Spirits, and liue?

Heb 12:10 For they verily for a fewe dayes chaſtened vs after their owne pleaſure, but hee for our profit, that we might bee partakers of his holineſſe.

Heb 12:11 Now no chaſtening for the preſent ſeemeth to be ioyous, but grieuous: neuertheleſſe, afterward it yeeldeth the peaceable fruite of righteouſneſſe, vnto them which are exerciſed thereby.

Heb 12:12 Wherefore lift vp the handes which hang downe, and the feeble knees.

Heb 12:13 And make ſtraight paths for your feete, leſt that which is lame bee turned out of the way, but let it rather bee healed.

Heb 12:14 Followe peace with all men, and holineſſe, without which no man ſhall ſee the Lord:

Heb 12:15 Looking diligently, leſt any man faile of the grace of God, leſt any roote of bitterneſſe ſpringing vp, trouble you, and thereby many be defiled:

Heb 12:19 And the ſound of a trumpet, and the voyce of wordes, which voyce they that heard, entreated that the word ſhould not bee ſpoken to them any more.

Heb 12:20 For they could not indure that which was commaunded: And if ſo much as a beaſt touch the Mountaine, it ſhall be ſtoned, or thruſt thorow with a dart.

Heb 12:21 And ſo terrible was the ſight, that Moſes ſayde, I exceedingly feare, and quake.

Heb 12:22 But ye are come vnto mount Sion, and vnto the citie of the liuing God the heauenly Ieruſalem, and to an innumerable company of Angels:

Heb 12:23 To the generall aſſembly, and Church of the firſt borne which are written in heauen, and to God the Iudge of all, and to the ſpirits of iuſt men made perfect:

Heb 12:24 And to Ieſus the mediatour of the new Couenant, and to the blood of ſprinckling, that ſpeaketh better things then that of Abel.

Heb 12:25 See that yee refuſe not him that ſpeaketh: for if they eſcaped not who refuſed him that ſpake on earth, much more ſhall not we eſcape if wee turne away from him that ſpeaketh from heauen.

Heb 12:26 Whoſe voice then ſhooke the earth, but now he hath promiſed, ſaying, Yet once more I ſhake not the earth onely, but alſo heauen.

Heb 12:27 And this word Yet once more, ſignifieth the remouing of thoſe things that are ſhaken, as of things that are made, that thoſe things which cannot be ſhaken may remaine.

Heb 12:28 Wherefore wee receiuing a kingdome which cannot bee moued, let vs haue grace, whereby wee may ſerue God acceptably, with reuerence and godly feare.

Heb 12:29 For our God is a conſuming fire.

Heb 13:1 LEt brotherly loue continue.

Heb 13:2 Bee not forgetfull to entertaine ſtrangers, for thereby ſome haue entertayned Angels vnawares.

Heb 13:3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which ſuffer aduerſitie, as being your ſelues alſo in the body.

Heb 13:4 Mariage is honorable in all, and the bed vndefiled: but whoremongers, and adulterers God will iudge.

Heb 13:5 Let your conuerſation bee without couetouſneſſe: and be content with ſuch things as yee haue. For hee hath ſaid, I will neuer leaue thee, nor forſake thee.

Heb 13:6 So that wee may boldly ſay, The Lord is my helper, and I will not feare what man ſhall doe vnto me.

Heb 13:7 Remember them which haue the rule ouer you, who haue ſpoken vnto you the word of God, whoſe faith follow, conſidering the end of their conuerſation.

Heb 13:8 Ieſus Chriſt the ſame yeſterday, and to day, and for euer.

Heb 13:9 Be not caried about with diuers and ſtrange doctrines: for it is a good thing that the heart be eſtabliſhed with grace, not with meates, which haue not profited them that haue beene occupied therein.

Heb 13:10 Wee haue an altar whereof they haue no right to eate, which ſerue the Tabernacle.

Heb 13:11 For the bodies of thoſe beaſts, whoſe blood is brought into the Sanctuary by the high Prieſt for ſinne, are burnt without the campe.

Heb 13:12 Wherefore Ieſus alſo, that hee might ſanctifie the people with his own blood, ſuffered without the gate.

Heb 13:13 Let vs goe foorth therefore vnto him without the campe, bearing his reproch.

Heb 13:14 For here haue we no continuing citie, but we ſeeke one to come.

Heb 13:15 By him therefore let vs offer the ſacrifice of praiſe to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lippes, giuing thankes to his Name.

Heb 13:16 But to doe good, and to communicate forget not, for with ſuch ſacrifices God is well pleaſed.

Heb 13:17 Obey them that haue the rule ouer you, and ſubmit your ſelues: for they watch for your ſoules, as they that muſt giue account, that they may doe it with ioy, and not with griefe: for that is vnprofitable for you.

Heb 13:18 Pray for vs: for we truſt wee haue a good conſcience in all things, willing to liue honeſtly.

Heb 13:19 But I beſeech you the rather to doe this, that I may be reſtored to you the ſooner.

Heb 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought againe from the dead our Lord Ieſus, that great ſhepheard of the ſheepe, through the blood of the euerlaſting Couenant,

Heb 13:21 Make you perfect in euery good worke to doe his will, working in you that which is well pleaſing in his ſight, through Ieſus Chriſt, to whom be glorie for euer and euer. Amen.

Heb 13:22 And I beſeech you brethren, ſuffer the word of exhortation, for I haue written a letter vnto you in few words.

Heb 13:23 Know yee, that our brother Timothie is ſet at libertie, with whom if he come ſhortly, I will ſee you.

Heb 13:24 Salute all them that haue the rule ouer you, and al the Saints. They of Italy ſalute you.

Heb 13:25 Grace be with you all. Amen.
